There are absolute truths that are verifiable and undeniable. We have now hard facts that absolutely disprove any notion that there exists a god who is omnipotent, omnipresent and lives outside of time and space.
If we want to allow for the existence of a god, than we can know with absolute certainty that this god can’t be above fundamental laws but must be subject to them. God can’t have invented movement, he can’t have created that which moves and he certainly didn’t make the rules that allow for cohesion and disintegration.
Of course, not all religion claim that god is the creator of everything. Even in the Christian faith there are those who recognise that god must have possessed all the attributes that make creation possible already. In their world-view god is all that which by necessity must be eternal.
God therefore is not all-powerful but hierarchical the most powerful being in existence. The bible describes Jesus for example as the first-born of creation:
He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation; for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities-all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
In this idea mankind and all creation lives within this entity called god or Christ and is subjected to it. Cohesion is established inside and what doesn’t stay inside disintegrates.
God here is therefore the force that creates order out of chaos. Not only is this god not all-powerful but it also isn’t omnipresent. Because god is perfect and good this entity can’t have anything to do with the chaos that rages outside of it. Its presence is only amongst that which is ordered and controllable. God therefore can be described as that which causes order in the midst of chaos.
We can see from this that god is really mankind’s way trying to understand the universe. The forces that caused the universe to come into existence are simply personalised as god (in the same way that mankind always has personalised natural phenomena with gods).
We can also see from this how deeply flawed the concept of god is. If god really comprises all that which is eternal it would have to include evil into it’s very being. The chaos outside of god also is eternal, it also moves and has rules. It is the antithesis of everything that is god, it is the Antichrist of the Christian world.
